Charlotte Anne

This week we have been learning about Charlotte Anne. We watched a poem about Charlotte and wrote about her. She was the one who gave the rights to woman to do anything they want. She did that by taking a lot of risks like wearing trousers and hobnail boots. Example - by making the woman have the rights to vote. I have enjoyed poem.

Samoan Language Translating

This week is Samoan language week. We created a google slide about how to understand the days of the week in Samoan. We found this language kind of hard but we still tried to get the understanding of pronouncing it properly. The google slides that my partner and I created was to tell you what the days of the week mean. Samoan language week is important to celebrate because all the other languages that we celebrate must be all celebrated. All the languages mean something like if they are from the same country they celebrate it in a different way from anyone else.

Leap of Faith

Leap Of Faith

The sun had gone low and the moon started to shine slowly. Tonight I knew the night was my night. I secretly told my friends the news as I stood on the branch ready to launch.

I felt the strong gust grabbing me from behind. I flapped my wings as fast as I could to stay steady and I was lucky that my talons were wrapped tightly  around the branch. I held my breath and lifted up my other foot. My talons were shaking as I spread my wings. I felt scared and excited at the same. With my wings open wide I leapt into the wind. It carried me up higher and higher. From the safety of my branch I glided away focused and hungry.

I could see the worms in the night clearly. I felt the strong wind that could carry me away. It was intense, but I manage to used the momentum of the wind and swooped down and stretched out my razor sharp talons. That worm had no chance. I grab the worm then returned to my nest ready to share the delicate worms with my friends.

Today for writing we have been learning how to write narratives. To complete this task I wrote a narrative about a story called Leap of Faith. In my narrative I used a lot of powerful words to make my narrative sound interesting. We used to word clines to help us write our narratives. We used a synonym site called thesaurus to find similar words to our word clines to make it more powerful.

This Is Why We Need a Skeletal System

Today for inquiry we created a Gif about the skeletal systems. We used EzGif to to create this Gif. We used Play-Doh and toothpick to create a human figure to show you what it looks like without bones and with bones. The toothpick stands for the "skeleton" on the human clay. We learnt that there are 300 bones for new born and 206 for adults. The  reason why we created this Gif was to show you why we need the skeletal system and how important they are.

9 Times Table - Strategy

Today for maths Joshua and I created a DLO about 9 times table and how to solve it easier by using the 10 times table. This DLO has a video of me explaining the solving the equation and how it works.

Example:    9 x 7 = 63
                   7 x 10 = 70
                   70 - 7 = 63

Summer and Winter - Poem

Summer

In summer I wake up in the morning, scattered with sunlight.
I hear the robins chirping away as the trees grow day by day.
Enjoying the last summer breeze upon the road, filled with leaves.
Winter

In winter I wake up in the morning with cold breeze no sun or light, windows starting to freeze. As I walk to school I can hear the wind rushing past me with a strong gust of force. Definitely not enjoying the rain hitting me before it hits the road.

Today we made a poem about Summer and Winter. We did the differences
between summer and winter and describe it. We chose powerful words because
it makes the poem more better and It helps with our vocabulary in our writing.

Art - Tech

I have learnt that Waka Huia is a personal treasure box ,the different about the traditional box and contemporary and Waka Hui was carved with feathers. We then draw a Manaia patterns. I enjoyed doing art with Ms Telefone.

Kiwi Sport - Rippa Rugby

Today for kiwi sport we have rippa rugby and our coach is Haymitch, we then go over the rules and get into teams and played rugby netball, we have to pass the ball to each other and try not make the other team steal the ball of you while passing the ball. You will have to communicate to each other and passing it to get a score. We then practiced our passing by passing it to each other in a line.

Kiwi can

The theme for kiwi can session is Integrity and our topic is making good choices and bad choices, making good choices is when you choose to do good choices to make others feel good about them self and not be harmed/get into trouble. Making bad choices can harm people or making people feel bad about them self. Example - drinking while driving, can making you crash and kill/injured innocent people that did no harm to you. Today for kiwi can we talked about making good choices and bad choices and what can happen if you do any of these stuff. For our energizers Miss Lily we played a game when you have to clap when Miss Lily 2 hands meet together we clap. For our real game we played hand soccer. I learnt how to make good choice.

homonym

Some people say that you’re a dear,
yet dear is far from cheap.
A jumper is a thing you wear.
yet a jumper has to leap.
It’s very clear it’s very queer,
and pray who’s to blame
for different meanings to some words
pronounced and spelt the same?
A little journey is a trip,
a trip is when you fall.
It doesn’t mean you have to dance
whene’er you hold a ball.
Now here’s a thing that puzzles me:
musicians of good taste
will very often form a band -
I’ve got one round my waist!

Harry Helmsley

Words that look the same but have different meanings are called?
homonym
Write out three pairs from the poem.
-dear/dear
-trip/trip
-jumper/jumper

The words at the end of some lines rhyme, this is called?

Write out three pairs from the poem.
-dear/wear
-fall/ball
-taste/waste

Write another 2 lines that could be included in this poem.
Illustrate your verse.
Crane/Crane
The crane flew went passing by  the construction crane

Homonym

This week for Poetry I have created a DLO that explains what homonyms means and an example of an homonyms that will help others strengthen their connection to this learning. The meaning of homonym is 2 words that spelt the same and a different meaning.

The Maori legend, it is the story about how the first women made and was named
Hineheauone. We made this in story board that. Carl and I work hard and
we use teamwork to do this. The story is really interesting to
know a story about  the first women to live in earth.

Unfinished Drink

Unfinished Drink, it is about La tour Mollet who was drinking with his friends and before the he drinks his beer he had to leave so he said  "“Don’t drink it, Dont sell it I will comeback and drink it"
but he died in the war. I felt sad because he never came back from war and
happy because they kept his promise by not drinking it or selling it.

Memorial By Shaun Tan

For reading our class read memories by Shaun Tan. It started of with a kid telling a story about their family memories, memorials and remembrance about the unknown soldier. He talks about his Grandad planting a tree when he comes back home from war at WW2, his Dad at vietnam and world war 2 - 1918. It also talks about the kid defending the tree because people are complaining about it and the statue is tilted. Full presentation
