Bridge Testing

Today after lunch Mr Johnston came to our class to test our bridges. Our bridge was really stable and it looks astonishing . Things that we did great was we used a lot of  triangles we used for our bridge and the PVA glue we used was very strong. Things that we didn't do well was not supporting the sides of the bridge to make it stronger. I learnt that we need to make sure that we add more sticks on top to support the sides

Kiwi Can

Today for Kiwi Can we were talking about perseverance. You can show perseverance when you are not giving up and keep trying.  You can use perseverance when you are trying to get a job, doing a test and trying to achieve your goals. We then played a game. This game is about one person tagging other people to make long line. If you get tagged you will be at the very end of the line, that means are the only person who can tag. After playing that game, we then played invisible touch. This game is about Mr Matt and Miss Lilly calling out numbers. If your number gets called you will stand up and verse the other team. If you get tagged the other tea gets the invisible ball.

Maths - Strategy

Today for Maths Mr Wong has created an addition and subtraction challenge for us. This challenge is very fun because it makes you think properly and you can use any strategy you learnt. This really helped me a lot on my addition skills. 

Kate Sheppard

Yesterday we made a DLO showing who was Kate Sheppard. We list 5 facts about Kate sheppard. We have collaborated and used our smart searching skills to find facts about Kate Sheppard. For this activity I was working with Hajera. I enjoyed this activity.

Bridge Building

Today for Inquiry we have continued to make a bridge stronger and gluing each part together. Our group has finished creating our bridge. We manege to glue the trusses on the side of the deck. We collaborated and worked out how to make our bridge stronger. We have placed more sticks under the bridge and we have used 196 toothpicks and each toothpicks are worth 25 Cents. All together it was $49. There was some problem. The problem was that the truss were not bending over slowly, but we fixed the problem by using a straw and putting it on the truss and using a laundry clip to help it stick together. I had enjoyed doing this activity with my group.

Orchestra

Today LS2 went to Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra. We saw a lot of instruments. There were 4 different sections and they are Brass, woodwind, percussion, strings and conductor. For Brass it was Trumpet, trombone, tuba, french and french horn. For woodwind there where flute, oboe, bassoon, piccolo and clarinet. For Strings there are violin, viola, cello and double bass. I saw a conductor that guides the musicians for loud, soft, slow and fast music. We then watch a performances from St Kents and Ngatapawae. There was a opera singer that sing for us and there were a lot of people that came to listen the Orchestra. I enjoy listening to the Orchestra performance.

Building A Bridge

Today for Inquiry we were building a bridge. Our group had collaborated to find out on what bridge are we going to make with glue and toothpicks. We manege to complete the main part of our bridge which are the deck and the sides. Our challenge was to make the strongest bridge and making sure it was wide enough that can fit objects. We also made sure that it can carry heavy objects and the measurements are right and we made sure that we counted the toothpicks correctly because each toothpicks are worth 25 cents. The most challenging thing was making the toothpicks touch each other and the same length. The people that are in my group are Miki, Jaydon, Jona, Reneir. We had fun doing this activity.
